Live nine lives to the fullest at the Fat Cat.

Comedian George Carlin has said that white people have no business playing the blues. What do they have to be blue about?

At the Fat Cat Cafe, Seaside Heights, it's the bar's business to play the blues - it features weekly jazz and blues music plus local talent. On July 21, The Incinerators showed Fat Cat patrons they have little to be blue about. The band's renditions of blues numbers were lively in the raucous sense and "blue" in a very sultry sense.

The Incinerators - a five-peice with lead and rhythm guitars and blues harp AKA harmonica - share vocals among its members and share a good time with the audience.

Though the genre of blues lends itself to some spotlight solos, The Incinerators instead give a more seamless performance, showcasing the unity of a band that just loves to play, and loves the music just as much.

That music included great instrumentals, but for me the highlight was a blues version of the swing classic                     "Caldonia" that translated fantastically.

However, the ambiance of the Fat Cat translates somewhat disjointedly - it's decor is in the French Quarter of N'Orleans, though the venue is in the Frog Bog stand and $1.50 Bud section of the seedy Seaside Heights. Yet (continued on page 3)
