also started registration of the 2002 JerseyShows.com Battle of the Bands.
The name's changed because Hooligans is not open, so the Battle will be held at The Saint in Asbury Park. The 2002 JerseyShows.com Battle of the Bands will be giving away $6000 in cash and over $10,000 in prizes. It will be open to all bands, all music styles and ages. It will also be divided into two parts (matinee-all ages, evening-18 enter/21 drink). So, if you are in a band, hurry up - there are only 96 spots available once they are gone, you will have to wait until 2003. Information can be found on www.JerseyShows.com.
In other pseudo-related news, most of you heard that Hooligan's Nightclub in Long Branch closed a couple months back on account of some still unspecified "Legal Trubbles", and the labyrinthine old Café' Bar on the city's boardwalk was permanently shut down by Long Branch Police, just before an all-ages concert a couple weeks back.
Word is, because the city now owns all property and waterfront rights to The Café' Bar and everything else on the LB boardwalk, the development-mad minions at city hall pushed the
envelope and closed the place as the club and its promoter Jersey Shows were about to open the doors for a multi-band showcase. At press time, club booking agent Dan Fulton was hustling up a new room; as
former Hooligan's house booker, Fulton had many bookings through december and hopes to continue promoting at a new joint soon. The other side of this coin lands in Asbury
