Unfolding the Reconstruction Plans for Asbury Park
|
|
Before I even begin to recall the meeting, I must explain (complain) that I could find no handouts or any printed material with exact figures or even assumptions
on the redevelopment plans for Asbury Park. Additionally, when questioned by attendees at the meeting, both the representatives of the developer and the council members present avoided hard numbers. They did say that the development would cover about 150 acres along the ocean side of Asbury Park with High Density Housing. With that in mind, remember that this article is unfortunately NOT based on printed data but on data derived from examining artists' renderings on display that night. It's also based on the panel's answers to attendees' questions as well as data extracted from towns that have performed similar reconstruction. Additionally NJCoast would welcome comments and editorials from any responsible parties involved in the reconstruction project.
If anyone reading this does have hard-printed numbers from either Asbury Park government or the developer, we would appreciate whatever information you could send us.

and the Stone Pony Contingent, among others. (continued on page 13)
