DOGS WIN WAR!!!
by David J. Gorsky

On Saturday, December 9, a pretty good vibe was evident at the legendary Broadway Central Cafe where local troubadours, bands, and even our favorite tasteless poet convened to benefit the American Cancer Society. The evening was presented by Mike Grau of the Marbles and hosted by Al Muzer of the Aquarian.

The evening started sharp at 8:30 pm with me, Dave Gorsky, (on the flyer, it was DORKSY) singing "The Christmas Song" by good ol' Mel Torme.

Next was Joe Canzano, host of the BCC's open mike night on Thursday nights. The rest of the evening proceeded at a warm, friendly pace.

Rachel still in form.

The Dogs of War 2000 also welcomed the return of Rachel to the scene after a gig as wardrobe manager for Weird Al Yankovic.  To put it quite simply, this girl rocks, her performance at the benefit left no indication that she had been away from the NJCoast music scene at all

Other surprises included Mike Grau, ever the musical chameleon, presented a different side of himself as he took to the piano to deliver some heavy balladry with a little angst thrown in for good measure in a band called the Dead Pony Cats. He later picked up his guitar again to perform with the Marbles.

Keeping up with Latshaw
by David J. Gorsky
Latshaw has finally found a new lead singer, which means Billy is finally free to do what he does best---play guitar.  I caught them at The Saint in Asbury Park on December 23, where they shared the bill with Toms River-based Cell Block 4. Keep a watch for them on the NJCoast Weekly Schedule.
