Blinding you with Killing Silence
Catching Killing Silence at the Brighton Bar on Sunday June 24 was pretty mindblowing. Powerful fuzz bass, guitar parts that ride that border between riff and simply
mega-amplified, and moody lyrics all added up to a cathartic and frenzied set. From their very first selection, the soul-baring "Dishonesty," the band had every intention of winning over the Sunday night
crowd. Singer Dave Dilkes came through with his Rob Smith-type vocals to go along with the power strumming of guitar of Steve Terrebush. Their other
set-grabber was "Somebody, Somewhere," the lead song on their first CD, "These Derelicts...Your Honor Student."
The band describes their sound as punk, but don't let the label limit one's view of the band. Terrebush in particular will show off some chops and melodic leads on the
rockers "7 Seconds" and the band's closing number "Like the Devil." Terrebush also handles lead vocals on some songs as well, while Dilkes picks up a guitar to bolster the rhythm section a bit. Gary
Terrebush on bass provides the foundation needed for a tight rhythm section.

Spearheaded by Dilkes, this quartet has gone through several permutations since their formation a year ago and have enjoyed
a residency at The Polo Club in Highland Park. Their sound has improved a lot since then, especially with the addition of drummer Erric Zdzchowski. Keep an eye out for them (We will).--David J. Gorsky

KBOB (continued from Page 9) B.H. I want to say something very witty.
KBOB: That was good! That was it. J.T.: Go ahead, we're waiting. B.H.: [thinking] Oh yeah, I know what it is, "some girls don't wanna drive, they wanna be driven..." J.T.: [now
he's got my feminist blood boiling. I think "I know I'm gonna lose it...poor Kbob" (having to endure my temper once again)] Oh no, is that....would that be refferring to anyone we know?
B.H.: I don't know if we know these kind of people...like, somebody like Jay Lowe [?] she doesn't drive...she's driven somewhere... J.T.: oh. [I can't decide if I should admit that I don't know who
that is] I, myself like to drive... B.H.: You would like to do what? J.T.: I myself like to drive, just for the record. B.H.: O.k. J.T.: I don't have any problems driving, Kbob, you ever know
me to have any problems driving? continued page 11
