to Scott Heart and headed for home. Scott gave me another chance in November and I've been there almost every other Friday since.

First, The Salt Creak Grille is a restaurant located at 4 Bingham Ave. in Rumson. And a very good restaurant at that, just celebrating it's third anniversary. There is no question the food is the main attraction. The Bar and restaurant is on the main level overlooking the Navesink River.

The show starts at 9:00PM. The bar is too crowded for load in before the show so it has to be done in the afternoon. Its kind of a hassle to get there and set up early but it's also cool to walk in at 8:45 and just plug in. Seems more professional. There's no house sound system so you have to bring your own. There's also no stage so I have to set up in the back corner behind the wait station, which somewhat isolates you from the bar so you have to work that much harder to get their attention.

J.T.:
Yeah, Alison Steele, the "night turd" my boyfriend used to call her [so much for my boyfriends]. So, who was your favorite DJ, do you remember?
S.S.:
Vin Scelsa.
J.T.:
Yeah, me too, he played the hottest, funnest stuff.
S.S.:
Pete Fornatale, he gave you the cerebral vibe...so you knew his selections came from his mind only, sometimes. Dennis Elsis was cool too, from 6 to 10.
J.T.:
Yeah, yeah, he had more of a sense of humor, but Vin Scelsa really had the best.
S.S.:
So, I totally fell in love with the radio, went to Brookdale. Their radio station was all just jazz and I couldn't really get into that at the time, so my radio love was put on hold till I got to Rutgers. College radio at the time was the modern rock of the late eighties, early nineties. I mean that's where modern rock really (continued on page 5) .
