What's Up This Month on the New Jersey Coast

Volume 2, Number 3, page 11

Open Mike Night(continued from page 10)
R.F.: (cont) Someone once described what makes a good song and if it's got great words, if the story is real good, then the music blends and accents the story... So I try to put in country... I put in ... my set would include a BB King song, the next one might be a Hank Williams song or a Hank Williams Jr. song, maybe a Beatles song...
J.T.: Thats a good tip, do you mind if I say that
R.F.: Say What?
J.T.: What you were just saying, is it OK if I put that in there
R.F.: Well, I would hope so...hahaha[he's starting to wonder if I might be crazy...]
J.T.: Well some people might get ticked because they think "Well, I like to do the same thing all the time" but...
R.F.: That's o.k. if they're there. I don't want to impose... what's right or wrong, I didn't mean it that way, I'm only speaking for myself. That's my opinion, if someone doesn't like it that's O.K.
J.T.: I think that most people who come to open mikes would share your opinion, How much longer is it going to go on?
R.F.: Generally, open mike was sort of a winter sport, but were gonna go thru the summer. We may change it to Sunday's but it's a thing that's getting a little ground swell and getting some momentum and we definitely want to keep it going.
J.T.: and there's other stuff to do here at the bar, there's a pool table, I think?
R.F.: Yeah, we have a fireplace and a pool league going on. In the summertime where's all kind of activities. There's a full volley ball court in the back...
J.T.: and you have a couple of games, right? and there's television...
R.F.: Yeah, there's like 40 T.V.s
J.T.: Oh my god!
R.F.: Yeah, they're everyhere.
J.T.: It's like a hunters lodge, but more friendly...
R.F.: Funny you should emntion it because we have a fireplace with this huge moose...
J.T.: The MANDATORY MOOSE!!
R.F.: The mandatory hunting lodge moose and what's better then that is that the moose is a septuagenarian.
J.T.: [o.k., he's waiting to see if I know what that means and if I don't, if I'll try to fake it. I veguely recall that it means pretty old...] Oh really? Oh my God, now how do you know that, you cut his antlers open and counted the rings, or what?
