The five-piece ensemble of Tom, Jeff, Mike, Bill, and newcomer Carl turned the burners on with their familiar yet refreshingly original pop-tinged rock, reminescent of REM (one of their favorite bands
and biggest influences). Tom told me the band started up 4 years ago as an artistic release; Rumour Mill isn't all about getting "discovered," they just want to express themselves through
music and make a little spare change doing it.
Despite this laid-back outlook on the biz, Rumour Mill is looking at the release of their third CD and enjoying some airplay on local station 106.3. Born and raised Jersey boys, this band finds inspiration in day-to-day life experiences (Lead singer Tom calls himself a "lyrics person."). When asked how they're enjoying the rockstar lifestyle, Rumour Mill said they'd get back to us.
The next act, Falling Out, consisted of three very good-looking young men on guitar/vocals, guitar, and drums (Paul Rose, Chris Spoust, and Pete Maresco, respectively). Though they've only been
together for 4 months (weeks? days?) their sound is powerful and eclectic, ranging from heavy funk to pounding pop-punk. Falling Out even has their superstar persona down pat (continued on page 2)
