What's Up This Month on the New Jersey Coast

Volume 2, Number 5, page 10

Chris Barry's "Shore World"
(continued from page 9)
nights no one objects to girls
whipping off their tops and flashing, not to mention the countless bands who bellow lame or crude stuff about females from the Pony Stage in the course of their respective shows and songs..Hey if that doesn't qualify as a tiny Free Speech issue, I bloody well don't know what does!

But it may not matter, as the rumor hounds are howling that The Penetrators are this close to a major deal, and the fact they continue to get high profile gigs like opening for   guitar godfather Dick Dale at the Tradewinds, [Friday 6/1] only confirms the fact that not all this scene's winners are discovered {Or Nurtured!} at "The House that Broose built".

You can make up your own mind, when Barry & The Penetrators make their debut penetration of The Broadway Central Next Friday May 11, with The Marbles opening and a special surprise guest…

Coming Sunday, May 27th, Memorial Day Weekend, Awesome Auk, Twang Monster Productions & World Beyond Network present:"2001 A Twang Odyssey" (Honky Tonk A Rama North Vol. 3)At The Berkeley-Carteret Hotel, Sunset Ave., Asbury Park, in the hotel's fabulous Oak Room Lounge, with: Twang World Allstars like The Trash Mavericks, Naked Omaha, Swampbelly, The Damn Lovelys (w/Meredith from WFMU) The Shiners (w/members of Dirtball), Mike Callahan & Mortal Combine, The River Gods, Jim, Jennie & The Pine Tops, Lancaster County Prison AND special headlining act from our nation's capitol, HONKY TONK CONFIDENTIAL, and other surprise guests!

Verrat & Madjul

(continued from page 7)
putting a real stamp on things with guitarist Skatt's minimal approach to playing leads (he was just as effective). Skatt and Greg Antine work well together, sharing lead and rhythm duties and never getting in the way of Chlup's throat.

They closed their set with a fiery gem that started like a reflective Tom Petty number but then throws you into the mosh pit in a quick thirty seconds, which was difficult to avoid, for the entire place was packed!!!

Madjul, whose mantra is "the sound of madjul, the sound of emotion," will play the Saint on Saturday May 5 along with Dragpipe. They also may have  shows in New York City coming soon. It is suggested that you get a taste of them. A truly head bangin' experience shared by all!!! We'll keep you posted about Verrat as well. -- David J. Gorsky
