What's Up This Month on the New Jersey Coast

Volume 2, Number 5, page 13

Joe's Drivel...
...We're 3 years old!!!!

Well, it snuck up on us faster then I expected. NJCoast was born May 15, 1998, so in a few days we'll be celebrating our 3rd birthday. Maybe next year will plan it better and have hats and T Shirts, or maybe some outdoor concert event to celebrate, but this year, I am

going to have to be content with being able to write a column about where we've gone in the last year and where we hope were going in the coming 12 months.

I started to go threw the more recent photos and fond we shot a mountain of pictures. The new Kodak DC265 camera shot it's 10,000 picture this month and the old DC260 is still going strong and close to shooting it's 7100th picture, add to that the picture shoot with

normal film and were over 20,000 pictures since May 1998. Shooting all these pictures it's only natural that some pictures become separated from the names and contact info of the subjects. We .have an ever growing library containing hundreds of nameless photos (The Lost Photos Archive) that we could use your help identifying. We only started it up a few days ago, but we'll keep going threw our archives and adding to it  .

Jane Says

One fine springish night I met with Paul Heany of Paul's Tavern in South Belmar. I'm not sure what his official title is. His family owns the bar and he does all sorts of busybusybusy stuff; managing, booking bands, paper work and cooking sometimes. I know Paul from when I lost my musical (key word there being musical) virginity and forced myself to stop playing only in my living room and go to an open mike night. This particular one was run by Paul about two (or maybe three, I don't like to think about it) years ago. He was very gracious and reminded me of the keyboard player from "The Wallflowers", whom I had seen a few weeks earlier. Both were wearing top hats (?) Or some such crazy rock star thing and it endeared me to them that someone as good looking as either one of them would bother to guild the lily when clearly, they didn't need to. (He'll hate me for saying that but there you have it.) (continued on page 14)
