What's Up This Month on the New Jersey Coast

Volume 2, Number 5, page 16

Jane Says
(continued from page 15)
The main cook is this woman Willow and she really knows what she's doing.
jt   do you wanna talk about what kind of music is going on and when?
ph   no, I don't want to talk about that...
jt   c'mon, you have to.
ph   I Have to?
jt   no, you don't have to, I request, I respectfully....
ph   of course! I want as much free publicity as we can possibly get here...well, as you know, I'm looking to start an open mike here with someone that probably all of your N.J. Coast readers know...Kbob.
jt   hahaha. yeah, Kbob's been in every one of my article, I think.
ph   yeah, he's gonna be the open mike man.
jt   oh, good, cool
ph   yeah, he's psyched about it.
jt   that's on Tuesdays, right?
ph   yeah. Wednesday nights I'm looking to get some kind of band gig going on for the summer...
jt   Betsey's band ? Oh, no they're playing on May 6th, I think Joe said...
ph   yeah, they're actually going to be playing on Saturday nights. In the summer, there's going to be a different band every Saturday. I have 5 or 6 bands that I rotate. May 6th we're having a huge party. It's three dollars to get in and free draft beer from 2 o'clock to 8 o'clock and live bands all day and a big buffet at five o'clock. We do it before the summer just to give the locals a good party before the bennies invade us.
jt   so that's good, we got the food thing down, what's happening on Fridays?
ph   It looks like we're gonna have a low key night with only two rooms open [there are three bars] and have it be a less pressure, cheaper night out , like the cover won't have to be that big [because it will be a dj as opposed to a band] and then when the summer ends we'll go back to entertainment probably Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights. Sunday nights we're doing reggae with Random Test", they used to be "Jah Works"...
jt   oh, they're a partying band, aren't they? I mean a lot of people go to see them?
ph   yeah, they're definitely good, they're better than most of the reggae bands that you hear around here because most of the bands that are considered reggae are playing [bison dung] stuff like Buster Poindexter "hothothot."
