Starting with an echoey drum faceoff to crisp guitar fills, as tribal drumriffs usher in 'Screaming Heart', the urgency of Segal's vocal cries almost mimic Jones'
tearful to scorching guitar riffs about love gone cold.. The tone and angst of it borders at times from somber to solemn, but never syrupy or clich‚'d, while the guitar feedback and FX give a
deceptively downbeat but

drifting urgency to the whole tune, as vocals and arrangement meet on an intermingled two way street.
Then go headlong into 'If he cared', as wawa-crunching hooks surround Bill's vocals in the classic 'Him or Me " theme that asserts itself alongside Jones' smoothly racing fret
intricacy. The song bristles with two-fold appeal, slipping into an almost sepulcheral pop psychedelia at points that end neatly, finito, but without abruptness..
While the drumriff kicks again into the band's seemingly patented guitar-percussive riffology, as Segall's Bryan Ferry-ish vocal lilt angsts its way through (continued on page 12)
