What's Up This Month on the New Jersey Coast

Volume 2, Number 11, page 21

SHOREWORLD
(continued from page 20)
     And Since When was it hard to find a DECENT OPEN MIKE?!?
       Not since Ahab sent Queequeg out for a sixpack, but thankfully Suddenly Susan Productions has since introduced Wayne's Open Mike and Open Jam at Moby Dick, every Monday Night, down on Rt. 35 So. In Pt. Pleasant Beach.

     The Fun all sails at 8 PM, with Happy Hour prices for all musicians; there's also a full backline of stage amps, drumkit and PA system available for a full band or acoustic acts to easily use. Whether you're a group, duo or just want to get up and stretch your chops, check it on OUT/Call (732) 920-ROCK for more info, or e mail Clearocean@hotmail.com. And don't forget, every Sunday Night at The Moby, it's the blues-yowling fire of BILLY HECTOR and THE FAIRLANES..

       And in some NOT-SO-GLAMOROUS NEWS:
We hear that most-glamourous Power Trio, Middletown-based Glamorous [yo, the ones w/the silvery locks!} broke up/their bass player left and rumor has it this most promising unit is currently languishing in rock limbo More as/or if it develops.

       And an Incoming Muse from The Dreamer,
Word from singer /songwriter Leon Berkowitz on his upcoming project is he's just putting the finishing touches on new collaboration, Lennon's Children, "songs from the east coast" Leon tells us its an incredible follow up, and although he's only singing on one track, he co-wrote all the songs, and an advance taste tells us, in Berkowitz's words,...its a dooozie...To keep tabs on his progress, visit www.leonthedreamer.com!

Highlights of my Halloween Weekend;
       The dark, gently relentless passion of Nicki Jaine and her 'Favorite Things"; Her eye on the wall delivery during the cryptically evolved noirish tale of 'A pigeon named Crow'..Couple w/her lyrical imagery of 'animals crawling' and the explicit irony of hearing her sing/wonder whether to 'make love or fuck in this over-priced room'..I.E. in a psycho-aural hallucination, I see Piaf, Lotte Lenya, Ani Difranco n' Daisy Clover morphed into one..Other Visions: Broadway owner Wayne Turback traipsing around in his trick or treat garb, dressed to chill

Dave Mac
(continued from page 20)
An admitted member of the throngs of listeners who loyally "get" Howard Stern, Mac remains sophisticated and true to pioneering the spirit of learning to appreciate and enjoy entertainment without worrying about whether it is part of the mainstream or politically correct on the surface. It is this refreshing perspective of the world and especially the events that have occurred recently that, like Stern (who still constantly surprises many fans and critics alike with his willingness to be radically different), allows Dave Mac, as a consummate on-the-air friend, to comfort his listeners in their never-ending times of emotional needs-and that comfort and support is really a major reason for the existence of the blues in the first place.
