What's Up This Month on the New Jersey Coast

Volume 2, Number 11, page 22

SHOREWORLD
(continued from page 21)
Highlights of my Halloween Weekend;
       The dark, gently relentless passion of Nicki Jaine and her 'Favorite Things"; Her eye on the wall delivery during the cryptically evolved noirish tale of 'A pigeon named Crow'..Couple w/her lyrical imagery of 'animals crawling' and the explicit irony of hearing her sing/wonder whether to 'make love or fuck in this over-priced room'..I.E. in a psycho-aural hallucination, I see Piaf, Lotte Lenya, Ani Difranco n' Daisy Clover morphed into one..

Nikki Jane delivering a tender neurotic ballad

Other Visions: Broadway owner Wayne Turback traipsing around in his trick or treat garb, dressed to chill
as the original bellhop Johnny {"Calll..ll fo'Phee-leep MO-RISSSS!} while lugging a beat-up suitcase around the bar. Picture Chaplin, Marceau, or Steve Martin in 'The Jerk", then Picture Mad Mime Keith Beck and Wayne's daughter Oona in shimmering flowerchild regalia, hiding from her hallow-mad daddy behind the bar as Spectacle X warped through their hard-wired alien soundscape of angst, fear and universal pain.. Check out next issue for our review of the Spectacle Experiment's new CD...'P.S.", Nicki Jaine will be at the Saint Wednesday Nov 14th in a 9 PM show, and she'll be opening for Mary Lanahan Friday Nov. 30th at The Internet Cafe.

       Say it isn't SO!! According to a frontpage AP Press article Oct 25th, as part of the city's deal with the new waterfront developer, the razing and demolition of nearly 40 buildings is to begin around the city in the next two weeks.

       We're all for the March of Progress, especially in the downtrodden urban zone of Asbury Park, but we feel this new "Re-Redevelopment Plan" is simply Re-RETARDED, for obvious reasons. Reputed Crack dens like The rundown Montego Bay and James A. Bradley motels will be among the first to go and SHOULD be, but the last on the list in line for demolition is The Moonrock Bar.

       Operated by former city councilman Jimmy "Moonman" Condos about 2 years ago when he'd cooked up a deal to buy its liquor license from Henry Vaccaro, problems arose when the state wouldn't approve the license transfer and the whole situation
