Café Bar looked like these days and to check out the show. The bar has a small quiet section outside facing the ocean with tables and chairs and a long interior section with a mirrored stage on the south side and a friendly bar on the opposite end.

Blue Scream

   Chrissy Santori and her new white Washburn (Spelling!!!) guitar opened the show. A staple along the NJCoast since the early 90's, Chrissy performed many of her favorite songs along with a few she had just finished writing.

   Up next was Blue Scream, a New Brunswick based band you might remember as Star Gazer. They've been slowly moving down the coast again and I expect to see a lot of them in the Monmouth/Ocean county area in the coming months.

Tillbrook Squeezes into Toms River

         The former vocalist of Squeeze comes to the Toms River branch of the Ocean County Library, in a fundraiser to lessen the tight squeeze the busy library headquarters has become.

     Stone" about a Vietnam vet who succumbs to drug addiction. After his next original songs of bitterness and anti-war stances, Spook pledged to get the depressing songs out of the way.

     He upped the humor bar quite a bit, delivering his original tunes that focus on everything from the CIA ("Mr. Gregory"), to stupid people ("Foolish Questions"), to imaginary childhood friends ("California Cool"). Spook managed to pepper his sets with the best covers, including songs by John Denver, Arlo Guthrie, and even Jerry Herman of Disney fame.

   One particular highlight was Spook's "Vote," a tune from his New CD "Breakfast at Bill's" which he had the opportunity to sing at a Folk Festival in Texas headlined by Peter, Paul, and Mary.  Never a mere passer-by of political and human rights issues, Spook addresses in "Vote"
