of the newer bands along the NJ Coast to an all-ages audience. I decided to drive down to Asbury Park and see how the new crop of musicians fared. I came away relieved to know that a new generation of performers is waiting in the wings and will soon be taking center stage.

     The 1st band, a somewhat hard rock group based out of Lincroft NJ - Blood Spill - threw me for a few seconds. Dressed in everything from furry boots to motorcycle

helmets, I was happily surprised to find a good deal of substance behind their costumes. The audience took well to their skillfully presented songs and seemed to enjoy the flamboyant, on stage theatrics.

     Next up was an 8-piece band that kept appearing on NJCoast's schedules from New Brunswick to Asbury Park all summer long, but eluded my every attempt to see live. It was worth the wait! The Superspecs spares no amount of personal to create it's Big Band sound. The 6 Brass/Woodwind performers backed up by a guitarist and drummer create a sound not heard since the end of the sixties. Their set, including standard cover tunes and original material, really surprised me. these guys have been practicing, and it shows. The music flowed well, the

song that bears comparison with the classic songs of Ray Davies and The Kinks.

     Tilbrook and his music emanates class and style, coupled with humor and strong melody.

     Outside of Squeeze, Glenn has played and sang on records by Elvis Costello and Aimee Mann and on Mark Knopfler's current solo album. Songs he has co-written with Chris Difford have been covered by the likes of Sting, Joe Cocker and Grandmaster Flash.

     So, these accomplishments will translate into a crowded concert and a successful fundraising event for the Ocean County Library Toms River Branch.

     The expanded branch would serve more than 1,900 people per day, with twice as much public seating.

     There will also be a 250 seat multi-purpose meeting
