What's Up This Month on the New Jersey Coast

Volume 2, Number 10, page 3

Gary C's home-cooked blues.
Local guy cranks it out nicely

If you're longing for that simple, cheap guitar and cheap drum honky tonk blues sound, then Gary C is your man.  This seasoned veteran has been playing since the late 1960s and surely puts his experience behind him with his cool, confident renditions of the blues and down-home rock n roll songs that we've all grwon to love.

Gary C (left) guarantees a good time.

Equipped with an acoustic steel guitar and a drummer, Gary is able to bring the right amount of emotion and commitment to the audience before him. One minute he might be singing BB King, the next some Stevie Ray

Vaughan, or he might bring out one of his gruelling originals that take on the everending battle of love over heartache.

Hailing from Jackson, Gary C swiftly comes off as a typical every day guy who honestly expresses himself with each vocal note or guitar lick. His guitar playing is superb, providing the right rhythmic backup while throwing in cutting leads as well.

In short think of Gary C as the goods and just that. He doesn't give you some fancy dish. But if you're looking for a good hearty steak, then look for Gary C without the trimmings. He is a frequent attraction of the Cool Beans Coffehouse in Toms River. -- by David J. Gorsky

"People I don't even know have helped a lot,'' she said, ''but the venues are the dilemma now.''

The young promoter said more than 40 bands -- some big and others unknown -- have contacted her in hopes of performing, and helping out the relief efforts through music.
