What's Up This Month on the New Jersey Coast

Volume 2, Number 9, page 11

Chris Barry's
SHORE WORLD SEPTEMBER 2001!!!
(continued from page 10)
Another about-face with the Iggyish vocal twang and near-majestic mid-song waterfall of guitar runs of 'Rx Spree"; The disc ends up with my fave cut, the vividly fitting, trademark imagery {"Lying in December's Trees.."] and delightful vocals of "Black Acura", which sums up this disc as a shining little project w/practically no throwaway material.

Released by the band's own Well Made Squeegee Records, Trashcat Buddha was recorded at Network Studios in Union, and produced by Rich Kirk & The Vigilante Cowboys; Formed in 1998, the band has been aggressively gigging around the tri-state area, and will be opening for The Brimstones next Saturday Sept 8th, at The Broadway Central Café', with special guests the NYC-based Swampbelly, from the Twang Monster stable of acts, For more Vigilante cowboy info, contact mailto:DRK001001@aol.com or go to www.MP3.com/Vigilantecowboys !

Rock in leaps, bounds and INCREMENTS…

Increment is: Dana Musumici, Tim Brown, Jon Kozodoy and Zack Appleton.; Tim & Jan knew each other for years before first collaborating back in '96; In the summer of 99, they met drummer Zack and Dana, a lead vocalist fresh out of the cover band circuit, and Increment was thereby born.

The North Brunswick-based band meshes a heavy instrumental groove w/melodic female vocals, which veer between a tense pop-springiness to distinctly atmospheric with a densely polished edge. Check out 'Nothing's Right', an attitude bug-out anthem about surrendering to the next level, w/supple metal riffs occasionally reminiscent of Lou Reed's Transformer-era 'I'm So Free' being played at Metallica-like speeds. Or just groove along to the more balladic, jazz-pop attack of 'Sometimes', or just get down to the grind w/the fluidly driving guitar and knifing psychedelic riffs of 'Stay', the most jamming song on the CD, for our money..Check out this Increment at www.incrementalmusic.com, Thursday Sept 20th, they'll be gigging at Hooligan's 'Rockher Thursday", and look for them at The Broadway Central Café' real soon..

Leon may not yet be up in NEON, But 'The Dreamer' is on His Way…

I'm talking about Matawan-based singer/songwriter Leon Berkowitz, (continued on page 12)
