odd timing to bring out the simple soaring inner joy that oozes from the man's voice and material.

Other Leon ditties like the jaunty, horn-peppered "Since U Left" again feature Leon's deceptively simplistic vocals and odd vocal timing, within a basic rock/funk arrangement that get the message across without squeezing out the shmaltz. And the atmospheric one-more-Saturday night feel of "The Pony" oozes with the smell of salt air, the vibes of anticipation as 'Johnny grabs a geetar', and Leon talks about waiting outside the club, talking to this girl as 'her hair falls into her face..'

So forget about what you may've heard about my personal music taste or nihilistic SOAP attitude; I've been lurking around seedy seaside clubs and fantasizing about those killer blondes across the bar long enough to tell you with a straight face that if this guy works at it hard enough and learns more about effectively promoting himself, that there could be surely be an audience out there for Leon and The Dreamers of this promise-laden, too-often blighted high life. And with the release of a very ambitious first project, Leon Berkowitz and his dream are already halfway there.

The mystique of Barry and The Penetrators? Well, it's been a couple fast years since our first encounter w/Jersey's own Reggae/Dub/Rock sensation, when our initial reaction described multi-tat'ted frontman Barry as "Mike Ness meets Meat Loaf on Fey Waybill", and after listening to BTP's new CD "Beaver Country", its gonna be easy to upgrade that perception.
