What’s Up This Month on the New Jersey Coast

All Ages at The Saint
from page 1

They played loud and fast punk rock sounds with strong bass lines and heavy strumming. The heavy strumming, however, caused a slight set back for the lead guitarist when his “E” string snapped. Thanks to a band member from Mr. Sparkle, who lent him his guitar, he did not have to play minus a string. After their time in the spotlight, they stuck around to rock out with the other bands.
The Escape Engine, an indie rock group, had the crowd riled up with their awesome beats and outrageous performance. The lead vocalist never stopped moving for a second as he danced around the stage, climbed onto the bar, and even spit a mouthful of water at the crowd. Luckily I wasn’t in spraying range. The fans seemed to like their performance, as I did. “You f***** rule!”, one particularly enthusiastic fan exclaimed. Hopefully, we’ll be hearing more from the Escape Engine in the near future.

Escape Engine at The Saint - November 2002

I was disappointed when I saw Void Where Prohibited. It wasn’t because their show was bad, but because it was the last show they were ever going to play. Yes, they will soon be a distant memory because they have broken up. They played together for four years during which they made two CD’s. your tortured friends, well, don’t come down. It’s nothing personal. I’M SURE YOU’RE A VERY NICE PERSON but you would be at the wrong event. There are a MILLION places that will welcome any breathing body with the potential to buy a beer. But Thursday at the Broadway is not the place. So have fun and good luck down at JOHNNY’S SPORTS PUB.

The Thursday Songwriters’ Night is every week at 9:30pm. You must be 21 to drink. For more info on The BCC and local music stuff in general, check the Rocket Bomb Records web site at http://www.rocketbomb.com.

Asbury Film Festival
from page 3

I had attended the Red Bank International Film Festival the week before. http://www.rbiff.com and they had 5 days to really show all kinds of shorts. Well, 11 out of 12 were pretty darned funny, which seemed to please the large crowd in attendence. It seemed most of the crowd filed into the Fastlane too.
It was a blast to be back there at The Fastlane again! The owner of the two buildings, Walter Burns, really needs to
