artist advocate extraordinaire, Michele Schaeffer,” Is to expose artists that haven’t shown before.” The mediums displayed within the gallery include an eclectic mix of sculptures, mosaics, mirrors, jewelry, glass and anything else that an aspiring artist can dream up. Michele explained that she strives to have a minimum of 30 different artist’s works showing in her gallery at all times.
The Be Art Gallery is truly an inspirational place for a multitude of reasons. One of those being, it’s owner, who in the true spirit of artistic expression provides an avenue of exposure that many starving artists would lack were it not for her progressive vision and courageous leap of faith. In addition to the various works of art, the Be Gallery also serves up original music on occasion. Next time your in Asbury Park- check out the Be Art Gallery at 704 Cookman Avenue. If you happen to stop by outside the normal business hours, which are Thursday thru Sunday from 12-5pm, the gallery will entertain even the most discerning window shopper. But please stop back another day and Be yourself while you peruse the works of the future artists that are emerging from within the sanctuary of this unique space.
Next time you are in need of that special one of a kind type of present for yourself or a loved one, keep the Be Gallery in mind, patronize local artists and help Michele’s vision grow. I guarantee that you won’t BE disappointed. Plus, as an added bonus you never know how the investment you make in the starving artists of today will pay off in the future.

open them up to the public much more frequently. He really did do a spectacular job bringing them back from the brink to their own unique original splendor.

Carl Chesna (kvel@aol.com) was first up. He's a singer/songwriter with some wonderful originals! His voice is so earnest and effortlessly beautiful. He chose some cool covers in his first set-one by Crissie Hynde ("Up the Neck") and one little ditty you've probably never heard of called "Dancing Barefoot" ...just kidding! He's got a 6-song CD available entitled, "The Psychology of Waiting".
The next singer/songwriter up was Courtney Lee Adams Jr. Yes, I said, "Jr." out of N.Y.C. http://www.courtneyleeadamsjr.com , booking info: 212-473-7235. Her vocals were so crystaline! Too bad the sound system was bad for the first part of her set. She took it in stride with a smile and forged ahead, feedback and all. You can check out some of her recorded stuff on her 4-song CD called, "Songs For the Record".
