The summer’s almost over, can you believe it? No more weekends on
the beach, no more beautiful sun (not like we’ve seen much of it this year, anyway). No more bennies, either, though. The drive from Belmar to Spring Lake will actually take less than an hour again.
There’s still a month to go, though, and plenty of entertainment to be found on the Shore, especially in Asbury Park. Harry’s Roadhouse, for example, not only has live music, but is also
showing (and selling) new, interesting art work (see page 8). The Crossroads offers a weekly country and western show gaining in popularity (page 4) and there are always great musicians at the Saint
(read about a few on page 7). Great musicians are performing all over New Jersey, though, in bars, clubs, coffee houses and even outside. One such performer is Chris Dargis, who has
written songs for Jersey bands since the ‘90s and released his own album in 2001.
He’s an interesting guy; if you want to learn a little more about him, check out Erin Ziess’s interview with him on page 2. We have a big issue this time (15 pages!) and lots of
information about what’s going on at the Shore. So read on, and I hope you enjoy. -Kim Predham
