What’s Up This Month on the New Jersey Coast

Volume 4, Number 3, page 9

He’s right to be optimistic in terms of his success. This work is all of six months old. He has done graphic design logos for an airline and a software company. He has prospects with the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater for their new logo. Geoffrey also will have his work hung in the Gallery at Lincoln Center in New York City.
If you missed him at Harry's you can check out his work at www.gfontaigne. com.
The other artist featured by Harry’s was Jacinta Stewart, a vibrant personality from Australia. She met Geoffrey through a friend at a SoHo gallery and was recommended to Una for this show.
"Jacinta's personality just popped out of her website, and I just loved her work," said Una.
She had not planned to stay in the States as long as she did but the success of her work and the opportunities that have arisen kept her here. Her work displays a love for life and a promise of love and protection. There is an obvious theme of female angels in her work. She uses heavy appliqués of acrylic paints covered in a glaze to heighten that celestial feeling. Her angels display exaggerated features, giving it a more generic look that is appealing to a broader audience.

Stewart and her artwork

She is, like I said, the embodiment of her work. She is carefree and child-like. Her playful personality allows her to pull off big red and black angel wings.
If you missed Jacinta at Harry's, go to www.jacinta-stewart.com.

    Cabaret Wednesdays

Since March, Terry Little and Jane Haas have run “Cabaret Wednesdays,” a mix of art and music at the Stone Pony.
In addition to showcasing local artists and music- ians, Little and Haas (through their company, Rock Chix Productions) are now offering musician workshops.
“We’re creating a resource for artists and musicians,” said Little.
Little and Haas plan to include workshops like “How to Promote Your Band,” “Public Relations,” “How to Get Outside Your Box as a Writer,” etc. They will run some workshops, but will also bring in other local musicians and professionals.
Doors open at 7 pm (cover is $5) and the workshops begin at 7:30. After, a few “really except- ional” musicians (according to Little) perfom. Her band, Wayfinder, then performs, followed by an open jam open to all musicians.
This Wednesday, Rock Chix is holding an open call for fashion designers, musicians and artists to be featured at the weekly events. For more information, email Little at terrylittlemusic@ email.com or call (732) 872-0315. Also check out Haas and Little’s Web site, www.rockchix.org. for more information.
