Live Music
at Border's
in Eatontown

Now that the holidays are over, you're looking for some fun things to do. Maybe you don't want to go to a loud, smoky bar. Maybe you want to take your kids with you. Border's Books & Café in Eatontown, NJ, is a pleasant way to spend an afternoon or evening.

This being my first time in this store, I wanted to check everything out. The store is divided in half with books on one side and music and movies on the other. Easy chairs and tables invite you to grab a book or magazine and browse. The selection was excellent and the staff so friendly and helpful.

Then there's the café. Sit and have hot chocolate or iced coffee and enjoy a delicious baked snack. The venue's red walls and red cups make you feel like you're someplace regal (or just the "coolest" place in town). Café server Alexandra Lozano, Brookdale Community College student has

The Saint
Celebrates it's
10Th Anniversary

Asbury Park is a wonderful town, full of history. It is a corner of the world that draws artists and musicians into its midst. At the heart of Asbury is The Saint, which first opened it's doors November 18, 1994, and has been providing the area with great musical performances for ten years. The Saint is the brainchild of Scott Stamper and Adam Weisberg. The two met while bartending at a Chi-Chi's in 1984. They became friends and rented a house together in Belmar. Scott continued to tend bar and book

music at clubs from Asbury to New Brunswick. Adam put himself through law school bartending with Scott and drafting contracts to help with the bookings.  So it was, in the early 90s, Adam found himself as legal counsel to the owner of the bar that would soon be the Saint. It was best known at that time as an illicit drug hangout. The place had gone under and was sitting empty.  Adam approached Scott with the idea that it was time to go into business for themselves. He had married Cheryl and she supported the idea–she first made flyers and you can still see her smiling face behind the bar. Scott would be running the bar and booking the talent and Adam would take care of the paperwork, while maintaining his law career. The establishment was a mess.  The two cleaned it up themselves, did some repairs, ordered beer, and opened the doors. Live music was the focus.  They needed a name.  They tossed around a few, like The Cove (it was taken) and The Crows Nest (some bar in North Jersey). Whiskey-A-Go-Go was also, sadly, being used. And one day it hit Adam…when he suggested "The Saint" to Scott, they immediately agreed they had found a name.

When you walk into The Saint, where do you look? At first you're not sure. There is just so
