"The bio on my Web site will change." He really just started to play out on his own and these solo gigs are getting him noticed. "The shows where I get injured are the ones I love best," he shares.

Maybe Pete rocked out next. There aren't too many roots/garage bands with such an awesome harmonica

a brilliant gem. Neither pretentious nor verbose, the lyrical simplicity of Rod’s songs was complimented by soothing lyrics. It is no wonder area open mic musicians are beginning to play their interpretation of his tunes.

Chris Barron (Spin Doctors), performing fourth, had a playful charisma that easily won over his audience. His confidence -- borne of years of experience and opportunity -- shone through in his sing-along “La La”’s and shared stories of the love of his daughter. Chris’ witty lyricism and musical smoothness was brought home in his performance of “Every Silver Lining Has a Cloud.”

To the home grown performers in Round II, I offer words of praise. I commend their poise and determination to perform to a slimmed audience and a rather noisy bar. These included: Paul Rosevear (Readymade Breakup) (When all Paul’s songs are as crisp as his first, his table of supportive fans will have turned into standing-room only); Matt O’Ree (Who is clearly ready for Round I. May I have the date please?!); Mark Prescott (Mark’s electric guitar was a

refreshing break from acoustic mania); and Joe Hughes (Goldenseal) (Joe’s songs are ready to speak for themselves).

The evening was enjoyable. I look forward to continuing to be inspired by songwriters showcased in WITR and to offer my support to this endeavor.
