March 2004 - Page 1

Brace yourself-there’s a new NJ Coast newsletter. It only took us 5 months, right?
We have some great     articles and a great new column, though.  Joe Hughes, founder of the rock group Goldenseal, also practices law by day.  As a service to new musicians, he has agreed to write a column for NJ

Coast, “Music and the Law”. In his debut, he explains how songwriters and composers can copyright their music without a lot of hassle, essential information for any budding musician.
In this issue, we also write about locals
Chrisie Santoni and John Degrazio, who were recently named finalists in the pop category for the prestigious John Lennon Song writing Contest. She shares the award with Degrazio for their song, “Mona Lisa”.
This month, we also bring you
a review of the Mad Hatter open mic in Sea Bright, and a Billy J. Kramer and the Cryers concert at Brookdale Community College, honoring the 40th anniversary of the Beatles’ American arrival.  Both were written by NJ Coast newest reporter, Brian Drum.
  On
Page 7 are brief notes about some of the open mic’s we’ll be covering latter in the summer and ... finally, scattered throughout the newsletter you can find announcements for shows coming up in the next few months. Especially check out Chris Barry’s picks on page 3.  A familiar face on the Jersey Coast music scene, if anyone’s music recommendations can be trusted, it’s his.
Enjoy!
