New Music Space in Montclair
|
|
Jazz/pop/folk singer-songwriter Jan Loe has started a new acoustic music series in Montclair, near exit 148 off the GSP. Located at 214-216 Glenridge Ave. in Montclair, "Live at Gallery 214" will present shows (generally) on the first Saturday of each month. Shows begin at 8pm and a $10 cover (unless otherwise announced) will include light refreshment of coffee, assorted teas, and baked goods. A portion of the charge will typically pay the feature act, or be donated to a worthy local cause. "Live at Gallery 214" presents an eclectic sampler of top local and regional acoustic musical talent. Genres will include folk, pop, jazz, and blues and comb- inations thereof. Both rootsy and edgy contemporary material should feel at home in this intimate art gallery space. The performance area at the end of the room looks out on approximately fifty seats, in loose concert array. Amplification will be minimal and percussion will generally be confined to hand drums. The March 13th (not the first Saturday) show will benefit the (continued on page 6)
