from page 6 Next up was the gangly, newly bearded Rick Barry, who shoved any adolescent angst aside as he asked “Will you be my whore," accompanied by splintery guitar melodies and a stark vocal passion that you just could not ignore, along with rebel-without-a-pause songs like "Pissing into the wind."
This relatively recent scenecomer has rocked shore clubbers both with his band or as a solo like tonight, and I get more out of him when he’s the only one up there singing, which is just my take on the facts, Jack. Rick Barry just played the Writers in The Raw series at Harry’s, and he’ll be at The Saint, Wednesday Aug 18th, BTW.

Chris Dargis, John Tremel, and ?? at The Wonder Bar open mic

It was after midnight but Dargis and vocalist Gina brought a torchy touch to the Wonder Bar with their just-right harmonies on a bittersweet-take on "You’ve Got a Friend," along w/Gina’s eerily passionate vocal on the Patsy Cline anthem "Crazy." In between, an older Black gent who frequents the club got up and finally revealed a little bit about his blues-singer past; leave it to say, by the time Arty was done with his acapella performance, everyone at the bar was on the verge of tears. Well, I was anyway. I don’t think I’ve ever heard as much vocal intensity from one voice, without instrumentation.
Also sat through Peter Waters who did his own watered-down Leon Redbone meets Muddy takeoff, which didn’t exactly take off, while Dargis returned w/John Tremel to put Tremel’s Lennonesque voice to good works on classics like the old Who classics "Maryanne continued on page 8

The group's first real show was at a place called Tumulty's in 1999. Since then, they have opened for acts/artists such as Rick Springfield, Bobby Bandiera, Southside Johnny, and Better Than Ezra.

When I asked Joe about his opinion of their best show so far, he almost couldn't say. He answered with, "At the standpoint of enthusiasm, our record release at The Saint, in March 2003.
Artists and bands such as The Who, Velvet Revolver, Neil Young, Coldplay, and Pearl Jam are a few of Joe's favorites. And he even has a new interest in country band Lonestar. "They are so catchy!" Joe says.
