from page 7 bands such as The Doors, Rolling Stones, and The Who, it's no wonder why Golden Seal describes their music as being, " high-energy, melodic, rock and roll, with pop/blues influences." If you are into music with a bluesy/pop/rock feel, then I'd recommend Golden Seal's CD. Unlike a lot of music today, the songs are all written about personal experiences.
"Each song means a lot," Joe says. Including the song, "Demons," which was written about, "the many demons in life, and how we can get through them if we just help each other," adds Joe.

Track 3 on the CD, a song called "Heroes," was written after 9/11, when a friend of Joe's, Al Neidermeyer, also a Port Authority police officer, perished in one of the towers. "It's really written for all of the cops, firefighters, citizens, etc," says Joe.
Joe was remembering the first time they played the song, "Halfway into the song, everyone knew what it was about. By the end, they were all in agreement with the song. It was the most powerful moment."
If you'd like to see Golden Seal in action, you can catch them on September 17th at Border's in Eatontown, with special guest Patti Bramson. Also October 2nd at Old Bay in New Brunswick. And again, on December 4th at Court Tavern with Holy Goats. continued on page 11

Also dug early sign-in Kevin Quinn and his big-sounding 12 string and rich alto voice on original "Long Lonely Winter" and the warm, smoothly leathery voice of Jay 420 (Slydells) on his own spritely "Perfect Pair." And who could forget Patti Bramson’s supple guitar and haunting vocals on what is always a most eclectic and entertaining choice of covers mainly written or sung by female artists?!
