from page 3 "We felt that the Goo Goo Dolls represented Grass Roots America," said Brad Fairhurst of Wits End Productions. Brad told me that earlier in the summer, two other photo shoots took place with singer Monica in Seaside Heights, and country newcomers Big & Rich in Holmdel. "We wanted to include a shoot in Asbury, since this has been the place for great musical heavy-hitters for many years."
Lance and Debbie from the Wonder Bar were thrilled when the scout chose their location, since the team originally planned to use Palace Amusements, but found it in a pile of rubble the day before the shoot. It was good Asbury karma, as the shoot includes a great Tilly replica they put on the wall and the Goo Goo Dolls featured on the marquee.
Fans in town gathered to watch the hit makers pose in the exclusive 2005 'Vette. The buzz grew as the crew waited for sunset to get their ultimate beach shot. Lance and Debbie really pulled out all the stops, even painting the bar "Tillie Green" to showcase the bar and the LA-based Goo Goo Dolls. Even though they didn't jam for the crowd, front man Rzeznik signed autographs for the kids and a few lucky fans. Then they were off, stealing away in what else? A black Chevy SUV!
It's looking like the Jersey shore is becoming the "it" destination for filming commercials. The ads can be found in select Conde Nast magazines this fall.
from page 9 explains. I grew up in Yonkers, New York, but my friends and I used to party in the city all the time. We just hopped the bus and were there in 20 minutes."
Mat O’Ree, Dawn and Paul Higgins
When she was in school, she'd go to the park with her friends and they would sit for hours. "We would bring lunch and hang out with ten musicians on the grass sitting in a circle and people would just pop in for blues, harmonicas, and banjos,"
she said. "While I was attending the School of Visual Arts, I worked at The Ritz in Manhattan as a cocktail waitress. I'd meet great musicians all the time.”
So Dawn started out as a designer/illustrator who used to get star-struck by her favorite musicians. What the heck made her decide to start playing guitar? I just had to know. "I was a closet case singer," she confesses and I laugh. "And I mean it. Many people in my life pulled me out and said 'you better get out there and play. No one's going to hear you if you're in the closet.' I didn't care if I was heard or not.
I just kinda got sucked into this somehow. I think that's how I ended up where I am now. I do children's concerts by day and these concerts by night."
As a parent, she really got into performing for her own kids and just naturally honed her talent by playing local concerts for children. "I've been doing these kid concerts for eight years. It's a lot of fun." Ironically enough, her son, is in his own band and making some waves in California.
